Book Description
A huge and fast expanding class of inorganic chemicals, polyoxometalates, also known as early-transition metal-oxygen anion clusters, are abbreviated as POMs. Polyoxometalates are inorganic compounds. Isopolyoxometalates (IPOMs) and heteropolyoxometalates are the two subclasses that POMs can be broken down into broadly speaking (HPOMs). The former term is used to describe a category of isopoly compounds that are characterized by the presence of skeletal transition metal cations in addition to oxide ions of the same metal element. On the other hand, the latter one, which is also known as heteropoly compounds (HPCs), has both heteroatoms and coordination atoms in its composition. This book discusses the features of POMs, as well as their structure and how they are manufactured.
