Book Description
The main goal of this textbook is to show high school students how calculus relates to biology in a way that maintains rigor while not being unduly formal. Biocalculus is a type of calculus that is used in the life sciences (PDF) promotes and demonstrates calculus concepts with examples chosen from a variety of biological fields, including genetics, biomechanics, drugs, physiology, ecology, pharmacology, epidemiology, and evolution, to name a few. Special care has been taken to ensure that all arithmetic functions are correct, and references to the essential biological literature for many of them have been included so that educators and students can learn more about the functions. The main focus, however, is on the intersection between arithmetic and the life sciences; the ebook's logical structure is driven by mathematical materials. Students will graduate from a course based on this book with a strong understanding of arithmetic and the significance of mathematical arguments. Equally important, they will have a clear knowledge of how these mathematical approaches and ideas are useful in the living sciences.
